Cuspal has commissioned a 2.5m HP Scitex FB700 UV printer from The Reprocentre for its premises on the Greenhill’s Road, Dublin 24. The company, which has seen consistent growth during 2010 through its diverse business model, encompasses two main business units; printing and signage. The printing end consists of digital, screen, flexographic and lithographic print manufacturing for various industry sectors both domestic and international. Alongside this the signage unit is a one stop in-house provider for many of Ireland’s blue chip company’s that have invested in its visual signage solutions. Cuspal’s decision to invest in the HP Scitex FB700 was taken to improve the company’s competitive advantage for both units and also to diversify into a new strategic product line for the company.

Managing director Kevin Williams remarked: “The company felt it needed to be more competitive with certain products. By printing directly onto pretty much any rigid substrate the FB700 will greatly increase productivity and reduce costs thus allowing Cuspal to gain a competitive advantage in its market place.”

The FB700 features an automatic media alignment bar that allows for easy loading and positioning of substrates and can measure both the thickness and position of the media through an onboard camera. Materials up to 6.4cm thick can be used for the production of outdoor and indoor applications on a wide range of substrates.

“The beauty of the FB700 is that it also offers Cuspal a faster throughput for large roll-to-roll capability format as well and will print on canvas, mesh and large vinyls up to 2.5m wide,” said Williams. “The addition of a white ink capability will now allow prototyping to be done on the FB700 which traditionally if a reverse print polycarbonate with eighteen colours was required was screen printed which was very expensive and time consuming. The new printer will bring this cost down dramatically; reduce turn around time and bottlenecks which in reality are downtime.”
