Woodprint Finishing has installed a 2.5m HP Scitex FB700 UV hybrid printer at its production centre in the Sandyford Industrial Estate, Dublin 18. The company, which has been in existence for 25 years, is a provider of bespoke solutions, particularly to the exhibition/display and retail market where it offers design, supply and installation services nationwide.
The new investment is a brave move by Woodprint considering the harsh economic climate in Ireland but was taken for a variety of reasons as Managing director Alan Davidson and director Paddy Curran explained. “The HP Scitex FB700 obviously offers a number of economies such as eliminating mounting and laminating,” commented Curran. “However, Woodprint is a very innovative company and this new machine gives the company much more flexibility in terms of what it can offer clients. In essence it opens up a lot of new avenues for the company and I think it will be seen as a very positive and welcome statement by a leading digital print house regarding Ireland’s fortunes going forward for the print industry here.”
Curran added: “The decision wasn’t taken overnight. There was a long period of investigation into exactly what particular machine was required and then a decision was taken to go with the HP Scitex FB700. That was based on a number of factors, not least among them being the fact that if a company stays still in any business it will go no where irrespective of the economic climate. “
Woodprint’s major market sectors include food and beverage, retail, exhibitions and trade shows but what really makes it stand out from the crowd is its added value service to clients regarding advice on material choice, finishing and design options.
